Jesus and Me Class

Lessons with the pastor according to your schedule.

The Bible is about Jesus. It’s also about us. At its core the Bible is about God’s work to restore us to himself in Jesus.

Jesus and Me is a twelve-lesson course on the chief teachings of the Bible. At the center of all of them is Jesus and us.

This course serves as the path to membership at Living Hope. It’s also a favorite of many members for reviewing the Bible’s teaching and growing in faith.

The next course will begin May 6! The same class will be given at two different times through the month of May: 10 am & 6:30 pm. Check out the interest form further down this page.

Lessons

  • Knowing God

How do we know there is a God? Can someone believe in Jesus apart from the Bible? Is the Bible God’s Word or mankind’s ideas? What is the basic message of the Bible?

  • The Fall and Promises of a Savior

The first three chapters of Genesis show us the beginning of the world, the beginning of sin, and the beginning of God’s plan to save.

  • Sin and Grace

This lesson review the problem we all face, called sin, and God’s solution to that problem, his grace, expressed in the gift of Jesus.

  • Faith and Works

We are introduced to two more key concepts, faith given through the Holy Spirit, and works done out of love for Jesus.

  • Promises Kept: The Life of Jesus

God keeps his promises. Everything God promised about a child from the line of Abraham that would bless the whole world he kept when he sent Jesus. We meditate now on how the life of Jesus is a life of promises kept.

  • The Means of Grace: Word & Baptism

God uses means to create faith in people's hearts. In other words, we focus on sharing the message of Jesus’ death and resurrection so that the Holy Spirit can do his work of making Christians.

  • The Means of Grace: Communion

What is communion? Who may receive communion? We learn of it’s institution, its many blessings, and Christ’s guidelines for its usage among Christians today. We celebrate how we have been saved through Jesus’ blood.

  • Confession & Prayer

In response to God’s grace, David wrote one of the most powerful pieces of poetry ever written, so that we could see his need for a Savior and God’s response with forgiveness. We see David’s exposed heart, but even more importantly, we see God’s grace and love for sinners exposed and on full display.

  • Christ's Nature & The Trinity

If Jesus is God, who, then, is the Father and the Holy Spirit? This lesson once again deals with the most important teaching of the entire Bible: the nature of Jesus (how he is both human and God), and the nature of God himself (that is, his Trinitarian nature).

  • The Last Things

Death and Judgment Day—What three different kinds of death does the Bible speak of? What is going to happen on Judgment Day? What are heaven and hell like? these topics scare many people, but Christians do not need to be afraid. In Jesus, we have victory and eternal life.

  • But what now? My Vocation

Just as God did for a man named Zacchaeus, so he has done for us: placed his Gospel into our hearts and drastically changed our outlook on life. This lesson focuses on the many opportunities we have to serve God and others in our life here on earth.

  • The Christian Church & Fellowship

What is the mission of the church? Is there a difference between pastors and lay people? If there is only one Holy Christian Church, then why are there so many denominations? What is our relationship with denominations that teach differently from us? We explore what it means to be part of God’s family, his church.
